Students from around the Commonwealth selected to join a national cohort of fellows

Highland Heights, KY. – April 14, 2020 – Kentucky Campus Compact is excited to congratulate the following public problem solvers chosen for the 2020-2021 Newman Civic Fellowship. Presidents from institutions of higher education across the Commonwealth of Kentucky successfully nominated the following students: Aditya Singh (Bellarmine University), Elivia Rojas (Berea College), Cameron Galloway (Kentucky State University), Gloria Endicott (Kentucky Wesleyan College), Zane Garner (Lindsey Wilson College), and Kaitlyn Meyr (University of Kentucky).

The Newman Civic Fellowship is a one-year fellowship for community-committed college students from Campus Compact member institutions. The fellowship honors the late Frank Newman, one of Campus Compact’s founders, who was a tireless advocate for civic engagement in higher education. The 2020-2021 cohort was announced on March 3rd, made up of 290 individuals from across America and the world. The Newman Civic Fellowship is supported by the KPMG Foundation and Newman’s Own Foundation.

Through the fellowship, Campus Compact provides a variety of learning and networking opportunities emphasizing personal, professional, and civic growth. Each year, fellows are invited to a national conference of their peers in partnership with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. The fellowship also provides fellows with pathways to apply for exclusive scholarship and post-graduate opportunities. Fellows from Kentucky will also be invited to a gathering held by the Kentucky Campus Compact.

“We are proud to recognize each of these extraordinary student leaders and thrilled to have the opportunity to engage with them,” said Campus Compact President Andrew Seligsohn. “The stories of this year’s Newman Civic Fellows make clear that they are committed to finding solutions to pressing problems in their communities and beyond. That is what Campus Compact is about, and it’s what our country and our world desperately need.”
