It is out of that self-appreciation that we become open to dialoguing with others to get a deeper understanding and appreciation of our differences. One of her favorite sayings comes from Nikki Giovanni: “Once you know who you are, you don’t have to worry anymore.”
Dr. Hamilton is also a veteran of the Cincinnati Fire Department where she worked as a firefighter/paramedic. While there, she provided first aid and CPR trainings to children and adults. She also presented fire prevention and public safety information to students at local schools, informed neighborhood community councils of public safety information, and assisted in the recruitment of prospective firefighters. She retired in January of 2013. Her research interests focus on issues surrounding women, diversity, leadership, and how they intersect. She enjoys reading mystery novels; watching reality television; and riding her motorcycle. She lives in Cincinnati, Ohio.
